Handicap Information

All Men's Association members are required to carry a USGA Handicap Index and keep it current.  Your annual Men's Association dues covers the cost of subscribing to a handicap service.  We use the Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) service.  Handicaps are updated every two weeks during the active season.  All members handicaps are available for peer review and can be viewed at this web site by looking up a members name at the GHIN website.

Honesty is the heart of the true spirit of the game of golf as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions.  Your handicap reflects your adherence to that honesty.  Every member is expected to turn in their scores within a reasonable amount of time after the scored round is completed and to be honorable with the score.

In the rare, unexpected event that a member's handicap index comes into question by known facts, it is the diligent responsibility of any active member to report known incidents to the handicap committee.  All reports will be kept solely confidential and addressed with prudence and diplomacy.

You are responsible for posting your own scores throughout the year.  You can either use the computer located at the club or post your scores via the on-line posting option over the internet from any internet connected device.

Handicaps are very important to the Men's Association.  They are the basis for determining ABCD slots for teams during scramble events and are used for score adjustments during individual scoring tournaments.  Here are a couple of important points to follow when posting your scores;

  • Always use the proper date the round was played.  This is critical for determining the sequence in which the scores rotate off.
  • Be sure to indicate the proper course / tee you played from.  Using the wrong tees or course will impact the true calculations.
  • When posting an "away" score or posting via on-line Internet, you will always be required to enter the proper course rating / slope figures.
  • Silos Country Club adheres to the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) procedure of the USGA Handicap System.  All members are required to adjust their scores based the following ESC guidelines.
